Golden Glider: A Winning Profile at Belmont Stakes

Golden Glider: A Winning Profile at Belmont Stakes

We are astounded by the numerous exceptional horse races that take place today.

However, few events (even among the three races) can rival the prestige of the Triple Crown.

After all, among the most anticipated race events is the “test of time,” the Belmont Stakes itself.

Besides, the Belmont Stakes is more than a race; it represents the climactic conclusion of the Triple Crown’s three-part series.

Although plenty of horse racing fans enjoy betting on the races, the Belmont gets most of the punter's action - an event among events.

This year, the Belmont Stakes betting action is packed with tension and excitement, thanks to a roster of exceptionally talented and attractive horses ready to compete.

Yet, we do need to wait a few more days for it all to begin. For now, let’s look at some of the horses that took a hoof to the dirt last year:

Today, our focus shifts to Golden Glider, who ended up in the final position at the 2022 Belmont Stakes event, Belmont stakes horse stats.

Steady On

Golden Glider displayed promising statistics early in his career; however, a gradual decline in his performance was observed over time.

In truth, we have looked at the stats of many other horses and found that he ran fewer than his rivals.

To elaborate, his racing performance remained consistent up until July 2022, after which he participated only once - an event that got him 1st place.

Golden Glider excels on otherwise hard-to-beat, synthetic fast surfaces as evidenced by his wins.

What We Know About Golden Glider

Golden Glider, a chestnut gelding born in April 2019.

He has a speed figure of 99 and accumulated earnings of $214,360 in 2022. Remarkably, he clinched victory in 25% of his races that year.

He initiated his career at a 1 1/16th mile maiden special weight race at Woodbine in November 2021.

Despite starting at the back, he rallied impressively, seizing victory by a slim margin of one length.

At his 3-year-old debut, Golden Glider competed in a 1st-level allowance optional claiming race in Tampa Bay Downs in January 2022.

As evident by his inborn talent, he sprinted from the last position to secure victory by a slightly greater margin this time, 1 ¼ lengths.

Interestingly, the future appearances of Golden Glider remain uncertain as he hasn’t been registered for any upcoming races, and little information exists regarding his owner's records with him.

Sadly, even his trainer, Mark Casse, confirms this lack of information - But even with such a setback, there’s still a beacon of hope for more.

Golden Gliders' most recent performance was a victory at the Tropical Park Derby.

Even though it didn’t meet his team’s ambitions of a win at the Kentucky Derby or Belmont Stakes earlier in 2022, he nonetheless triumphed in the final Derby of the same year.

For example, on December 26th, 2022, Golden Glider brought home 1st place at Tropical Park Derby.

Though It’s no Triple Crown, it is - surely - a great way to end the year!

A Word On The 2023 Belmont Stakes: An Expert’s Insight

Sadly, Golden Glider won’t feature in the Belmont Stakes of 2023.

However, other horses are worth watching with record stats (more specifically, Angel of Empire, Forte, and Tapit Trice).

Odds for these horses are all between +200 and +400.

As for the overall favorite, Angel of Empire takes the win. Notably, this horse has had 7 starts in its career (with 4 wins, 1-second place, and 1 third place), which are incredible stats.

Forte is the other favorite, with 7 stars in their career (of which 6 of those starts were wins)!

Overall

Although news about Golden Glider has been sparse in 2022, we eagerly anticipate his return to the racing scene - not to mention his last-place finish at Belmont the previous year, where he rounded off 2022 on an optimistic note with a commemorable victory!
